In designing my block for October, I wanted to incorporate autumn leaves, pumpkins, and Sunflowers. I found a lace owl and a set of beautiful lacey leaves on Queens Flamingo Etsy site. I also found a set of beautiful lacey leaves from Queens Flamingo. For this block, I collected a variety of beads and charms including a large brass squirrel charm, small silver owl charms, orange, green and black glass pearls, a moon face bead and crystal glass star beads.
ReplyDeleteI used several techniques to create dimension and depth. The pumpkin is a Raised Applique, made with felted wool felt. The Sunflowers are made with the Woven Picot Stitch and French Knots. The owl is created in layers using wool felt.
