  1. I decided to do March’s block in a more traditional Crazy Quilt style. The theme of my block is to honor Irish Celtic traditional symbols. Some symbols are subtler than others. The center of my block is a Susan Branch print which has been fussy cut, featuring a bird. I have over stitched it with silk ribbon and pearl cotton thread. A black glass pearl has been stitched in for the eye. I also over stitched the branch, leaves and flowers, below and around the bird. I framed the bird with more flowers. Each bordering seam has flowers as a part of the stitch combinations. The flowers include; Fargo Roses, Beaded Daisy Flowers, Bouillon Knot Flowers, Beaded Flower Sequins, and Beaded Straight Stitches.

The space to the left of the bird features a beaded embroidered daisy flower.

This block features two lace motifs. In the upper left-hand corner is a beaded basket of flowers to the right is a beaded lace butterfly. In the upper right-hind corner are two silver skeleton keys.
The lower right-hand corner features a raised applique teddy bear, standing in a field of beaded flowers, holding a bunch of shamrocks.

The lower left-hand corner has a shamrock stitched in silver metallic thread in a Celtic design. The seam to the right of the shamrock features silver hearts also with Celtic designs.

A Button Cluster is in the space below the bird. It has a Celtic charm and two of the little buttons have shamrocks designs on them. All of the buttons in the cluster are antique or vintage.
