  1. July’s Block

My July block is focused on traditional Crazy Quilting techniques I learned from Kathy Shaw. The main feature is a Ribbon Lady and her doggy in a garden. The Ribbon Lady is based on Kathy Shaw’s Ribbon Lady Patterns. I used a free vintage embroidery pattern of a lady in a long dress and hat from Pinterest.

The Lady is an Embroidery Slip from the waist up. After I appliqued the Slip onto the block, I used 13 mm Silk Ribbon to make her skirt. Her hair is done in Bouillon Knots to mimic curls. The hat is Satin Stitches and embellished with French Knots in 2mm Silk Ribbon and size 8 pearl cotton, for flowers. Her flower basket is a dyed lace basket. I bought this from Nicki at Raviolee Dreams, Etsy site.

The Ribbon Lady is surrounded by a rose vine with butterflies. At her feet is her faithful canine companion. I found this little charm from an Etsy site called The Preppy PoochUS. It looks so much like my dog Pepper, I had to buy it.

Also included on this block are a pair of wool felt appliqued birds.

Each of the seam treatments are done in different kinds of flowers to make up the Lady’s garden.
